Shanghai

I never imagine I'll return... Memories of my last visit mainly comprised of those cute traffic controllers standing at the 4 corners of the road intersection blowing their whistles at bold jaywalkers. There were so many people then - and even more now! 3 subway lines less than a year and a half ago, now there are 5 and counting. The pace of change is breath-taking. Perhaps 10 lines by the next time I come?

Shanghainese are no doubt extremely capable people, but also very hospitable. Ying's little aunt showered us with so many gifts, almost couldn't bring them back...

浪奔 浪流

In canto the song 上海滩 (Shanghai bund) is sung "Lor-hong bang! Lor-hong lau...". Simply gave me the image of giant waves crashing against a magnificent shoreline. Was somewhat disappointment to discover that this is not the case. My fantasy of the grand Shanghai tsunami engulfing Andy Lau on the beach will just have to evaporate.
